CBD OIL

CBD stands for cannabidiol. This is a naturally occurring compound found in the flower of cannabis or hemp. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, is safe and non addictive. Cannabis and help has been used for thousands of years, used as a medicine all over the world.

The human body is made up of complex systems to help sustain life including the respiratory, circulatory, nervous and endocannabinoid systems.

The endocannabinoid systems stabilises the body and promotes an equilibrium between the body's systems ensuring they work in harmony. It also helps to regulate our mood, sleep, appetite, digestion, body temperature, bone density and motor control.

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

THE BODY

The Endocannabinoids  system’s most important function is to maintain balance and homeostasis of almost everything going on in your body. Endocannabinoids may act on various receptors in the body. This system is made up of receptors that CBD binds to, activating them to produce therapeutic effects. It has the ability to influence ion channels that control the release of chemicals like calcium, sodium and potassium.

THE SKIN

The skin also produces endocannabinoid molecules that are constantly released in specific amounts depending on the "healthy need" o the organ. This results in the skins cannabinoid tone.

CBD oil contains high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 which are essential fatty acids used in the body, vital to maintaining healthy skin.

CBD has been added to the list alongside vitamin C + E, as an antioxidant, neutralising free radicals, protecting the skin from the inside out therefore helping with ageing.

It also helps with acne by regulating lipid production by reacting to the endocannabinoid receptors in the sebaceous glands. The anti-inflammatory effects also help to soothe redness.

With regards to eczema, CBD can correct the imbalance that cause the condition and can relive itching.

Lastly it can slow the skin cell life cycle process in psoriasis, improving the appearance and can also reduce the pain and inflammation associated with it.

DOSAGE

If purchasing CBD oil from myself (I use a trusted manufacturer producing the highest quality) the recommended dose would be 3 drops underneath the tongue 1-3 times a day. Additional doses may be taken if needed.

A small amount of the oil can also be administered directly to the skin/ problem area.
