Anti-wrinkle injections is the use of a neurotoxin that blocks muscle contraction by temporarily inactivating the nerves that controlling. This basically relaxes the muscles, giving the skin a smoother look, as well as reducing lines and wrinkles. This is an amazing non surgical way of preventing and reducing the signs of ageing.


Botulinum Toxin (often branded as Bocourture, Azzalure an Botox)is a purified protein produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. The product causes muscle relaxation.  Small injections are administered to the specific muscles. The results can take up to 14 days to be apparent, in which a review appointment is held to make any adjustments if needed. The effects of the treatment can last anywhere from 2-6 months, however this is dependant on the individual person.

Frontalis ( Forehead lines)

Orbicularis Oculi (Crows Feet)


What are the side effects?

You may get some bruising, tenderness, oedema and erythema at the injection site. Some people can experience a headache after the treatment. Although the area is sterile before and during treatment, infection can arise if the client touches the treated area with dirty hands for example. Some people can experience a numbness feeling, however all the mentioned will subside. 

What are the risks/complications?
Temporary drooping of the eyelid/ eyebrow- these effects will wear off over time, or can be corrected with prescribed eye drops/ by injecting the muscles that antagonise the affected muscle. It is important to remember that this is not permanent.

Asymmetry (unevenness)

Excess tearing / dry eyes (usually subsides within 2 weeks.

Double or blurred vision 

Allergic reaction including anaphylaxis is possible but very rare.

All of the above are rare due to the precise injection techniques used. 

Am I suitable for this treatment? 

We are unable to treat anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, suffers from hypertrophic / keloid scarring, bleeding abnormalities, active dermatosis in area (eczema/ psoriasis), active infection (acne/herpes), as well as some other medical conditions, some allergies and some medications. A thorough consultation will be conducted prior to treatment. 


Remain upright for 4 hours after treatment- Do not lay down in this time period.

Do small extra contractions of the muscles treated every 20 minutes for the first hour. 

When cleansing, avoid pressure and use a gentle strokes away from the eyes for at least 48 hours.

Avoid facial massages/ facials/ electrical stimulation/ IPL and lasers of the face for the next 2 weeks.

Avoid wearing tight caps or garments in the area that has been injected for 48 hours. 

Avoid sun exposure and extreme heat i.e. sauna, steam, sun beds , very hot showers and strenuous exercises for 48 hours. 

Avoid applying make up in the area for at least 6 hours.

Wash your hands immediately post procedure and minimise touching the injection site especially with dirty hands for at least 6 hours.
